The HT 3-9x40 features a duplex-style SFP reticle with red and green illumination for versatile use in all lighting conditions. The illumination helps the reticle stand out against dark backgrounds at dawn and dusk, when deer and hog are most active.

The HT 3-9x40 uses a fixed parallax setting optimized for 100 yards — the standard zero distance for most hunting applications. Fixed parallax simplifies the scope, eliminates one variable, and is perfectly matched to the typical 50–300 yard engagement distances this scope is designed for. For shooters who require variable parallax adjustment at extreme close or long ranges, Aquilifer's 3-12x56 and 6-24x50 models offer side parallax adjustment.

The HT 3-9x40 uses 1/4 MOA per click turret adjustments, moving point of impact 1/4 inch at 100 yards per click. To zero: mount the scope using the included rings, bore-sight at your target, fire a 3-shot group at 100 yards, then use the elevation and windage turrets to move your point of impact to your point of aim. The capped turret design protects your zero from accidental adjustment during transport and field use.

The HT 3-9x40 includes scope rings, making it ready to mount straight out of the box — no separate ring purchase needed. It uses a 1-inch (25.4mm) main tube, the most universal standard for hunting rifles, compatible with any Picatinny, Weaver, or standard 1-inch ring set. It is ideal for bolt-action deer rifles, .308, .30-06, .243, .22 LR, and most centerfire hunting calibers.
